What Is Labiaplasty?
Labiaplasty is a procedure that reduces the size of one or both sets of labia. It can be used for several different reason, such as repairing the labia following recovery from disease or injury, repairing damage to the labia following childbirth, or to treat various types of sexual dysfunction. It can often be done with other procedures, such as a Thigh Lift. Dr. Blinski is very discreet in both his consultation and operation of Labiaplasty, understanding that this can be a sensitive subject with some patients.
How Is Labiaplasty Performed?
Labiaplasty is performed using medical lasers to reduce the flaps of skin forming the labia, then sealing up the incisions. The scars produced by Labiaplasty are hidden within the vagina’s natural creases, making them very difficult to spot. Furthermore, sexual sensation is naturally improved by removing the extra flaps of skin. Patients will be able to leave the office after a short recovery time. It is not recommended that patient’s drive themselves, and should arrange for transportation to and from the facility.
What Happens After Surgery?
Recovery takes several weeks, with only mild discomfort. To make the patient’s sitting comfortable, patient’s may want to use a donut-shape cushion, and keep pressure off of the area of the procedure. Therapeutic soaking directly after the procedure is also recommended. Patients will have labial swelling during the first 3 to 4 days. This swelling will gradually vanish over the next several weeks. Sexual relations can resume in generally 2 to 3 weeks.
