Rhinoplasty Surgery Miami
Have you experienced trauma that left your nose out of shape
or left you with problems due to a shift in its structure? Have
you inherited a nose that doesn't seem to fit your desires for
your appearance? Even a slight change can make a world of difference
to your self esteem.
Rhinoplasty is a cosmetic and reconstructive surgical procedure
that is typically performed to improve the appearance or function
of a person's nose. It can increase or decrease the size and
modify the shape of your nose. It is also frequently called nose
reshaping or a nose job. You can alter the shape of the end of
the nose or the angle between your upper lip and your nose. Rhinoplasty
can correct some birth defects, damage produced by an accident,
and breathing issues.
Rhinoplasty is a frequently requested cosmetic surgery procedure.
Most people that have had rhinoplasty really appreciate the improvement
of balance on their face that is accomplished with this procedure.
It can restore coverage of the skin, reconstruct normal curves,
and restore airflow in the nasal passages. One procedure is usually
all that is needed to accomplish the desired outcome.
Rhinoplasty is sought many times after the effects of a traumatic
event. Accidents are the most common cause of nasal defects.
Rhinoplasty permits shaving of the dislocated cartilage, and
repositioning of the nasal bones.
Primary and Secondary Rhinoplasty
A primary rhinoplasty is a first time experience with rhinoplasty;
whether it is for reconstructive, functional, or aesthetic purposes.
Revision or secondary rhinoplasty is done to revise or correct
an unacceptable result from a previous surgery or when the patient
whishes to enhance the results a bit more than the original surgery
was able to accomplish in one procedure or they may have developed
a condition that makes it more difficult to breathe. New developments
in rhinoplasty procedures now permit more pleasing outcomes in
secondary surgeries that were not possible before.
Functional and Reconstructive Rhinoplasty
Functional rhinoplasty is a surgical restoration of the air
passage through the nostrils and re-establishment of normal breathing.
Reconstructive rhinoplasty restores the nose to a normal form
and performance.
Functional rhinoplasty or reconstructive rhinoplasty can be
performed to repair damage from an accident, cancer involvement,
an autoimmune disorder, previous cosmetic surgery, inhaled drug
abuse, and congenital abnormalities.
Non-Surgical
Rhinoplasty
A non-surgical rhinoplasty can
be done to reshape the nose with alternative procedures and
can be achieved in an outpatient setting without anesthesia.
One of the most common kinds uses an injectable substance for
changing the contour and configuration of the nose. Results
may last several months before the procedure would require
being done again.
Rhinoplasty Recovery
After undergoing rhinoplasty surgery, someone will need to take
you home and remain with you for a minimum of 24 hours. In very
few circumstances, Dr. Blinski may suggest a short stay in the
hospital.
Most patients are prescribed pain medications, antibiotics,
and steroid medication to treat inflammation after surgery. A
cold compress may be recommended for one or two days after your
rhinoplasty surgery and then alternating cold and hot compresses
for one or two days. Most patients decide to stay home for about
a week after the procedure. It is not dangerous to be outside
but it is strongly recommended that you wear a hat to protect
yourself from the sun.
Any external sutures will usually be removed 4 or 5 days after
surgery. The cast is removed after one week in most cases. Any
internal stents will usually be removed in 4 days to 2 weeks
following your procedure. After a rhinoplasty, you should shortly
be able to return to your typical activities. Your rhinoplasty,
with the proper care, will not hinder your quality of life and
should show results in very little time. The surgery usually
requires little or no down-time depending on the patient's situation.
Bruising usually takes about 2 weeks to subside. After a rhinoplasty,
there is a modest amount of shifting and settling during the
first year.
